Eco Nut Peer to Peer Educator

The ETSU EcoNuts are a group students who raise awareness about ecological issues and encourage environmentally responsible behavior on campus by educating and informing peers. EcoNuts educate their peers about environmental issues such as waste reduction and energy conservation and help plan activities all over campus. EcoNuts must attend regular training and planning meetings (typically once per week). Meetings will introduce you to the monthly topic, provide an opportunity to brainstorm related activities and events, and will also include skill-building workshops. Other duties include group activities, collaborative projects, and opportunities to represent the EcoNuts program at various campus events. Hours are variable and may include weekends and evenings. Railroad Museum Assistant

This position works approximately 7 hours with children visiting the museum's Little Engineers Playroom each Saturday to ensure the more than 2000 annual visitors to the children's room have a safe and enjoyable experience. Helps the museum's part-time employee with the children visiting the facility by interacting with the children and their parents during the 5 hours the museum is open each Saturday. Additional duties are to prepare the playroom by vacuuming the carpet, sanitizing the toys and benches, and organizing the toys for play prior to the museum opening. After closing, this position also helps put the toys away, replaces batteries in the locomotives, and cleans the room. Must enjoy working with children, be dependable, and available to work Saturdays. You will be required to complete a packet of information that includes items such as an employment application, health form, fingerprinting, and references. We are currently hiring tutors in the Center for Academic Achievement (CFAA)—Learning Services for the fall 2017 semester. The CFAA, located on the first floor of the Sherrod Library, provides tutoring services to current ETSU students. Under the supervision of the Learning Services Coordinator, tutors are responsible for assisting fellow students in their pursuit of academic success. Individual tutoring sessions (45-60 minutes) are the site of peer-to-peer dialogue which may include reviewing course texts, materials, students’ writing, or class notes; encouraging critical thinking and analysis; and supporting independent thought. Tutors must be comfortable working with a diverse, multicultural clientele and staff. All training takes place “on the clock,” and no outside work is expected. Tutors typically work 5-6 hours per week for their APS scholarship; further, evening and/or weekend hours may be assigned. Tutors must be able to demonstrate a history of academic success. We encourage all ETSU and incoming students to apply to be tutors, especially individuals currently majoring in or interested in pursuing math and/or science related fields. Preference will be given to individuals who are interested in tutoring in high demand areas such as organic chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, biostatistics, and epidemiology.
