Train Museum Assistant

Description:
This position works approximately 7 hours with children visiting the museum's Little Engineers Playroom each Saturday to ensure the more than 2000 annual visitors to the children's room have a safe and enjoyable experience. Helps the museum's part-time employee with the children visiting the facility by interacting with the children and their parents during the 5 hours the museum is open each Saturday. Additional duties are to prepare the playroom by vacuuming the carpet, sanitizing the toys and benches, and organizing the toys for play prior to the museum opening. After closing, this position also helps put the toys away, replaces batteries in the locomotives, and cleans the room. Must enjoy working with children, be dependable, and available to work Saturdays. You will be required to complete a packet of information that includes items such as an employment application, health form, fingerprinting, and references. Pay rate is $7.25/hr with performance evaluations completed at the end of each contract period unless the student resigns or is discharged.

Position Title: Information Technology Office Assistant Purpose of Position: Supporting the department of Information Technology Services's mission of providing technology-based assistance to members of the ETSU community. Moreover, our offices serve (and are visited by) alumni, donors, current students, faculty, and staff, and they enjoy interacting with students whenever possible. Duties: General clerical support in the form of answering phones, staffing our reception area, filing, copying, scanning, picking up and delivering mail, and captioning videos in the University's bank of YouTube videos. Qualifications: Must be dependable, professional, able to handle sensitive information, and have the ability to and will work consistent hours*. Job will be for approximately 5-7 hours per week while school is in session.

America Reads tutors

Description:
Tutors provide one-on-one and small group reading instruction to children in the region who read below a third grade level (primarily K-3). Selection of tutors is based upon work-study eligibility, completion of an application, reference checks, willingness to comply with program rules and regulations and commit to tutor responsibilities, and the desire to work with young children. Tutoring occurs at schools and community sites in the Tri-Cities Region, so you must have your own transportation to and from the sites. A successful completion of a background check is also required. Attendance and participation in an orientation and training sessions are also required.
