The student worker will serve as an Editorial Assistant for a book project: The Italian Romance Epic in English, 1590-1600. The book will be published in 2016 by the Modern Humanities Research Association. The student worker will assist with transcription, copy editing, producing explanatory footnotes, and research related to the book and chapter introductions. Occasional work meetings will occur in Burleson Hall, but most of the assistant's work will be completed independently, with regular communication via e-mail. The student research assistant will help with a research project investigating the effects of microgravity and/or whole body radiation on female mouse reproductive tissue. Work duties will include learning and utilizing our paraffin embedding technique, and sectioning tissue and making microscope slides for tissue evaluation. The student may also be involved in the histological staining and evaluation of slides. We strongly prefer a student worker who is a Health Sciences or Biology major (pre-med/pre-pharm); Chemistry or Physics majors are also welcome. Previous hands-on laboratory experience is a bonus, but not required. Students who have the ability to do fine detail work with their hands is also a plus.
